Just steps away from the western saloons and aromatic bakeries of downtown Winthrop, the Hotel Rio Vista's rustic façade blends seamlessly with the town's old-time western atmosphere. Overlooking the confluence of the Chewuch and Methow rivers, the hotel features guest rooms that offer private balconies, hand-crafted wood furniture, and works by local artists. A flat-screen television and free wireless Internet access keep guests connected, while an outdoor picnic area and riverside hot tub offer the chance to unplug within earshot of the mellifluous sounds of nature.

Definitely one of the nicer hotels that we've been to with balconies and gorgeous view.
The room was very clean and somewhat modern as I thought it might be on the seedy side because of the way it looks on the outside.
The only thing that happened is that my BF found a big bug in the bathroom which he stomped and the next morning as I sat in the bathroom, a big hairy spider walked right in front my bare feet. Needless to say, I was in no position to grab a shoe and whack it. So I tried to do my business as quickly as possible so then the spider came at me so I jumped up and ran to get a shoe. Luckily it was still there and he got whacked.
After that experience, I worried spiders might crawl in the luggage.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kim B.Van Wert, OH1011249Aug 9, 2023Updated review

Front desk was very helpful in allowing us to see the room before we booked. - R M.La Conner, WA0306Oct 13, 2023
Love this hotel. Is it the fanciest five star hotel...no but has the nicest staff, cleanest rooms, best location and the price is right. They are at the end of town right by the best bakery for breakfast and coffee, The Rocking Horse and you can walk all of town and back to your room. No driving and having to find parking. Right on the river with a balcony off your room to take it all in. I've stayed here twice in a month just because I love Winthrop in the fall.

I thought this place was great. Loved our view, clean, staff was super sweet, and you get a microwave mini fridge and coffee pot! Great location and easy check in and check out. I would recommend staying here for an easy over nighter, romantic get away, family fun, or friends sleep over! Can't go wrong here.

So far so great! Smooth check in. Parking up front. Comfortable beds. Coffee in the room. Awesome views with the river outside. Walking distance easily to everything. Bonus is that there is a "free with donation" level 2 electric vehicle charger at a nearby campground! Motel is simple and rustic with all the knotty pine decor. It ain't the Hilton, it's down to earth better

Nice hotel overall. "Close" to trails, don't know why you would want to come over here in the first place. Outside of the hotel looks like a fucking backdrop in a western movie but the inside was clean, keep in mind this was 200 bucks for a bed. Hot tub smelled stank however.

An excellent place to stay while visiting Winthrop. Easily able to walk into town, place to sit in the river, clean rooms and plenty of parking.

Horrible dont stay here
Fine if u have no problems but horrible if u do like us- they dont care
Huge line but couldnt check in (felt like forever) since card reader down :/ everyone manually had to type in card
Had to go to bathroom so bad and she didnt let me use bathroom down the hall "because she needed to walk me there and there was too many ppl behind desk. "But I also couldnt check in to room because of line. Had to lose spot in line.
Fridge wasnt on- we bought milk food first night.
Milk spoiled and almost gave it to toddler in morning. This is a safety concern and she acted like it wasnt big deal.
Customer service 0/5 dont hire unexperienced teenagers
Manager out of town+ they dont give out their number
Soundproof room 0/5 hear everything! people outside and in close rooms. Walls too thin
View 5/5 really pretty water view
Weird smell from ac / water
Car noise at times highHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jacqui D.Bothell, WA0497Aug 21, 2019
Nice place, stayed a few weeks ago. First, the good stuff:
Great back balcony overlooking the river, great river access. Nice zero grav chairs to watch sunset on the river. Spacious, clean room with good sized fridge & freezer. Large counter around sink. Less than a block to the "town".
It's quite overpriced (thus only 3 stars) imho but most small hotels in E WA tourist towns are. I expect that will change in other places like Leavenworth now that real competition has arrived. They need some of that in Winthrop. The pricing also made no sense: we stayed 4 nights, different price each night, with Friday being the cheapest. Also, would have been nice to have a clock on the nightstand like all hotels (except this one) have.
Another annoying feature is that they charge 8 bucks a day for premium WiFi. A sign of things to come? Parroting Ticketb__tard? The "free" WiFi was adequate for us, but was awkward to sign on to.
Don't forget to greet Healy, the friendly local kitty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
