What to do

Rodeos

Rodeos are big here in Okanogan Country! Professional rodeo events in North Central Washington have cowboys and cowgirls pulling leather in the saddle with traditional events such as bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and trick riding. Watch bronco busting cowboys fly out of the chute and take to the arena in true western style! The horses and rodeo clowns seem to have just as much fun as the contestants! Feel the rush of adrenaline as beautiful rodeo queens run the barrel races in tight patterns with speed and agility. Or hold your breath in apprehension when the rodeo clowns sway incensed bulls away from a downed rider, saving him from a dangerous stomping! These high ranking contestants in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, PRCA, demonstrate their sheer athleticism and agility in the arena – it’s never a dull moment at a Okanogan Country Rodeo! Lasso up your partner and come join the fun! Here's a list of the rodeos you'll find, sorted by month. For upcoming dates and more information, please visit our Calendar page!

In 1933 the rodeo that became the Omak Stampede was just a dream of two Okanogan County stockmen, Leo Moomaw and Tim Bernard, who had started a rodeo string in 1932. From these humble beginnings, the Omak Stampede grew and grew, and now it is one of the largest and most respected rodeos in the Northwest.
