What to do
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is an incredible opportunity for winter fun. It’s easy, accessible, and anyone can try it and enjoy it on the first day! For families, this is a great way to get out there and explore the beauty of winter for a wide range of ages and abilities. If you have smaller children, consider renting a pulk to tow the small ones along!

Okanogan Country’s scenic winters and seemingly unending days of sunshine intensify snow experiences. North Cascades has some of the most spectacular scenery to indulge every wintry whim: high alpine slopes with wide panoramic views, river side groomed trails through aspen thickets, forested trails through the woods with an experienced naturalist. Historic lodges, snowshoe rental shops, classic dining, and warm brew pubs top off a snowy day in the sunshine!
How about an invigorating snowshoe trek with an experienced naturalist to guide you? For a family adventure (kids of all ages welcome) drive up to the
Mazama Ranch House and meet up at the yurt for a free snowshoe tour or you can check with
Sun Mountain for the guided snowshoe tour schedule. Snowshoe rentals are available as well, and hot chocolate awaits you at the end!
If you prefer to head out on your own, the
MVSTA,
Sun Mountain Lodge, and the
Loup Loup Ski Area all have excellent areas for snowshoeing.
Be aware that you are sharing the woods with many animals, both large and small. Please follow safety precautions.
