This is a lakeside gem with housekeeping units as well as full hookup campsites. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and all with a lake view. The campsites are situated in a park-like setting, in amongst grass and trees. There are eight campsites lakeside that are out in the open but have a beautiful view and immediate access to the lake. We have a small store with some simple groceries, soda, ice cream, ice, beer and wine, and fishing tackle. Boats are available for rent. A basic 12 ft aluminum row boat with or without motor, as well as pedal boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. The resort has a heated pool, play area, horseshoes, volleyball and other equipment available to use at no charge. A dock lakeside provides a good spot to fish, leave your boat or swim. We have been host to small family gatherings, weddings, group events, etc. There truly is something for everyone.

We know people who have stayed there and liked it so we gave it a try. Just what we needed! We kayaked, fished and relaxed. Enough kitchen in our room to cook meals. We were in a studio type motel room that was old but very clean. Only thing we would add was air conditioning.

Okay so you have to decide what's important to you with this place. First of all, my in-laws made a reservation for a specific lot weeks ago and upon arrival, with two unhappy screaming children in the car, we were advised that they had given away our lot to another person. I won't even list the reason why because it was so bunk. To top it off, the neighbours we had booked their lot ONE YEAR in advance with a confirmation three months ago and they also had their lot "given away." Is the lake nice here? - yes but we will never come here again or recommend it because there are plenty of other beautiful lakes to visit. In addition, they only empty out the garbage here on Monday and Friday which, during a busy summer season, is not sufficient. We have had to deal with overflowing garbage receptacles which have attracted a ton of flies.
We will certainly not return, nor will our neighbours.

Response from Teri2919, Owner at Spectacle Lake Resort
Responded Sep 15, 2010
We are very sorry when the experience at Spectacle Lake Resort is not satisfactory. We try very hard to accommodate everyone and at times it becomes necessary to rearrange campsites or motel rooms to better accommodate all. We did not "give away" a reservation. These folks would have been met with an alternate site or room. We strive to maintain the close relationships we have built with our guests over the last 19 years and will continue to treat them graciously and welcome them as if they were family.

The owners are wonderful people. Bryce and Teri treat you like you are family.
The cabins are perfect for a fishing getaway. Just want to emphasize that these accomidations are NOT fancy by any stretch of the imagination but they are nice, clean, rustic cabins.
They have a full compliment of utensils and cooking implements, a gas range/oven, and a fridge and freezer combo.
There is a nice common area between the cabins and the lakefront along with fire pits, picnic table and barbeque's.
There is a nice doc to either tie up to or fish off of.
The main office is also a small general store though if you cannot find what you want, Tonasket is only a 15 minute drive to a larger selection.
The campsites and RV spots are also great!
This is a nice quiet area and if you enjoy hiking, biking, fishing hunting or just kicking back and relaxing then this place is awesome.
The rooms do not have tv's or room phones though I think they were talking about putting in wireless access for customers but what this places lacks in modern amenities it has lots of character and is great foir just getting away.

This resort has a special place in my family's hearts. It is not fancy, but it is clean, comfortable, and in a beautiful location. We've come here for a few years with our extended family. We have lots of kids when we all get together and they love playing in the lake, fishing, boating, using the pool, and sleeping over in each other's cabins. One year our kids were also lucky enough to go on a vacation to disneyland. When asked about their favorite vacation that year they said Spectacle Lake! Now, as a side note. If you are an adult thinking this is a "resort" experience, I would advise you to think more along the lines of very comfortable camping. The cabins are older, but very functional. The geese sometimes make a bit of a mess. Overall though, it is a great place to make lasting memories.

Quite disappointing.

Service: manager (male) was indifferent to us. Granted he is probably not an outgoing person, but when we as guests smiled and greeted him first, a reluctant “Good morning” reply without a smile, is not a proper hotelier’s response.

Hardware: The cabins are worn. The plastic hamper in my room was split on several sides. Better not to have it, as it is not a motel or hotel requirement. Not smart.

The nights are cold in Tonasket. The very thin polyester blanket was not enough to keep warm. Even the same thin second blanket was not enough. We booked two rooms. I brought my own duvet, so I gave both of the blankets in my room to my buddy who stayed next door.

Come on. Most guests want more comfort, even if charged more.

Family has been going there for over 40 years. Lots of great memories there. 3rd generation coming back now almost every summer. Quiet lake up in the hills above Tonasket, WA. Rustic but clean Built back in the 1950s and hasn't changed much. Some cabins have AC. Great camping areas with covered picnic seating. Cabins right on the water. Meet new friends every year. Good trout fishing early in the season. Just sit back and relax, with cell service with most carriers, if needed. Wi-Fi available.

Checked in a week ago for a 2 week stay. When we checked in asked about a space for some friend that would be joining us in a week. We were told no problem, the space on either side would be available. Came back to the park after going to the Fair today and were told we had to leave, our spots were given to other campers. The owners said they never told us we could have the spot for two weeks and denied knowing anything about our friends showing up tomorrow.

You can take your chances but breaking camp on a minutes notice and looking for a new spot on a Saturday afternoon is no what I look forward to while on vacation. One thing I have learned in life is never trust a liar.

Don't stay....It looks much better on the website than being there.
Not really kept up, something died by the office and they didn't bother to pick it up, so that stinch was everpresent. The shoreline wasn't kept up, full of dead fish and other uckie things, and it just looked run down. No real place that had a nice view and was clean and quiet. There were lots of families there having a good time, but the overall look of lthe place is trashie and run down. Trash cans full, dirty bathrooms....not a destination.

We are so disappointed with our stay here. This "resort" is a joke. The lake is practically half empty, which admittedly is not the owner's fault. But everything else that is controllable is a mess. We checked in at dusk but almost missed our turnoff because the sign is tiny and almost invisible in the dark. We had our pick of rv spots so we chose the empty grassed area away from everyone else. Our friends had a "cabin". I use the term cabin loosely because it's basically an old strip motel. Because the water is so low the boat launch doesn't reach the water by about 30 feet. There are stranded boats all over the place and it smells funky.

The owners haven't seemed to update anything since they purchased it 20 years ago. The games room is literally falling apart. The ping pong table has chunks of wood missing like a beaver snuck in and went to town. It's a joke. The cabins are old and the "motel" portion has abandoned vehicles and heaps of junk around it. The fish smokers listed as an amenity are not functioning. There's nothing to do within an hour of this place yet they have the audacity to charge for movies. Seriously this place is horrible.

I get the impression this is a place people have been coming to for 40 years out of tradition and are so accustomed to the slow rate of decay that they're not even aware of how bad it is now.

Response from Teri2919, Owner at Spectacle Lake Resort
Responded Jul 18, 2016
We are very sorry that these guests did not enjoy their stay and felt compelled to go around the resort and find all the "bad" but seemed to ignore the good, about the place. They are right in that we had a very low water year, compounded by the fact that our reservoir lake was doing double duty for fire fighting during the worst fire disaster Washington State has seen! Boats cannot be moved once the water has moved away due to the soft lakebed, it's just not safe. We had rental boats at the dock for guests to use. Storage space is at a premium at a lakeside resort and we do have to store equipment, etc. for use. Our motel rooms are clean, in good repair and are being renovated as time and budget will allow. They are located right on the waterfront with a patio area and a grassy space for relaxing. We have a lot of devoted regulars, for sure. However, we have new guests trying out the resort for the first time, also, and we rarely have an unhappy camper! We are located in the Many Lakes Recreation Area with lots of different lakes with all varieties of fish, hiking and biking trails and very near to the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area that offers great recreation, beautiful scenery and awesome wildlife viewing. In Tonasket, 12 miles away, we have wonderful antique stores, great shopping, restaurants and art on display. We welcome all to come and enjoy the beauty that Spectacle Lake and the resort have to offer anytime:)

Spent many summer camping there. Our family first came in 1979, again 1989.. and we now have been going every year for the last 5 years. Great fishing, swimming, rafting and my kids just love the pool. My son caught his first fish there. You can rent boats and everything you need to boat or fish is in the store. The store is well stocked and the prices are great. They have large grass areas for games. The people that come are always nice, friendly and great fun. Full hook up for RV's, you can rent Rv's and there is also the motel rooms too. The motel has a wonderful view of the lake. Best of all the weather is always lovely.
